About A Prairie Homeless Companion Modeled after the well-known radio show A Prairie Home Companion.A Prairie Homeless Companion was originally created in 2019 by zAmya Theater Project with PlaceBase Productions, commissioned and supported by the Partnership Art Program of Southwest Minnesota Housing Partnership, featuring stories gathered in Southwest Minnesota. The show is now being adapted for Central Minnesota with Oasis Central Minnesota.
In zAmyaโs version, a long-running outdated radio show produced in the city and about rural Minnesota comes to town and finds a different reality than the one theyโve been describing. The residents of the town take over the show and produce their own version – The REAL News from Miserable Falls. A Prairie Homeless Companion is both a humorous satire and serious look at housing instability in Greater Minnesota.
About zAmya Theater Project zAmya Theater Project (incorporated as ZTP) uses the powerful combination of artistic expression and lived experiences of homelessness to uplift and inspire a community that works for housing justice for all.
