Ojiberish: BOOZHOO NANABOOZHOO

January 27, 2022 | 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm | Great River Arts

Michael Lyons, author of “Ojiberish: An Introduction to Ojibwemowin”, a children’s book on learning the Ojibwe language, joins us for an evening of education and entertainment about Ojibwe language, culture, and history.
Michael has over 20 year experience in Indian Education. He has taught Ojibwe Language and Culture, created Ojibwe language curriculum, served as an Indian Education Director, and authored two suicide prevention comic books.
He is also an accomplished studio and live musician. In addition to recording a few albums (and even a tv commercial jingle once) Michael was the lead singer and guitarist for the band, ISHII.
This event is co-sponsored by the Morrison County Historical Society and the Great River Children’s Museum. The Children’s Museum will be hosting a puppet-making class for kids before Michael’s performance, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
There will also be a preview of the new wayfinding signage that will be installed in area parks acknowledging the area’s Ojibwe history.
There will be a lot going on that evening, and the best part? It’s FREE and open to the public.
