Guest Author at Bookin' It

Multiple-award winning Minnesota author Alison McGhee will be the guest of Bookin’ It on Thursday, May 6th, from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. Mother’s Day shoppers will want to meet this multi-talented writer who has penned books for children, young adults and adult readers.

“Ms. McGhee is one of our favorite authors, always engaging, warm and witty,” said store owner, Laura Hansen. “We’re so glad to have her return for another visit with readers and to share her latest books.” A mother herself, McGhee has captured the mother-child bond beautifully in two recent releases: Someday (also available in Spanish) and Little Boy. “Her picture books are favorite read alouds,” Hansen continued, “and two of her adult novels, Rainlight and Was It Beautiful? were picks of our Contemporary Fiction Book Club. Alison is one of only two authors in our 18-year history who’s had two books selected for the club.”

McGhee, an associate professor of creative writing at Metropolitan State University in Minneapolis, has received many awards, including four Minnesota Book awards, as well as the American Library Association Best Books for Children and the Parents’ Choice Awards.

“We will have a wide selection of Ms. McGhee’s titles available for the signing,” said Hansen. The selection can be viewed on the Events page of the Bookin’ It website: www.bookinitontheweb.com. “We encourage people to contact the store prior to the signing to reserve their copies.” Bookin’ It is located at 104B 2nd St. S.E. in downtown Little Falls, across from the historic Morrison County Courthouse. Ripley Rock n’ Run

Healthy Communities Collaborative (HCC) of Morrison County will sponsor the 1st annual
“Ripley Rock n’ Run”. A family-friendly event which includes live bands (competition for prizes), kids activities, food and a 2-mile fun run/walk, 10k run, and 200 meter kids run along the Mississippi River at Camp Ripley (Recreation Center) located north of Little Falls. A healthy, fun event for the entire family!
