 02/06/2010   Lindbergh Candlelight Ski and Snowshoe
Held at Charles Lindbergh State Park from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Come explore 1.5 miles of easy, candle-lit cross-country ski and snowshoe trails before relaxing with free refreshments in a wood-heated 1938 Works Progress Administration shelter building. The lit trails will meander through stands of pine, oak and aspen and over Pike Creek. If there is a lack of snow the candlelight ski and snowshoe will turn into a candlelight walk. Ski rentals are available in Little Falls. In case of bad weather a message will be left on the park answering machine stating if the event has been canceled. Vehicle permits and Great MN ski passes will be available at the park office. Please call the park at (320) 616-2525 for more event or area ski rental information. Directions: The park entrance is located one mile southwest of Little Falls on Lindbergh Drive South.

The time of European/American settlement of Morrison County was not for the faint of heart. County and city governments were being organized and infrastructure (schools, houses, roads, businesses, etc.) was being built. People moved to the county for the entrepreneurial opportunities they thought the area offered. Have you ever wondered why particular settlers chose Morrison County as home? What specific opportunities and resources drew them here?
Jan Warner, Executive Director of the Morrison County Historical Society, will be leading a series of informal discussions about the county's pioneering spirit of enterprise. "Conversations with Jan" will take place at 2:00 p.m. for the remaining Tuesdays in February (9th, 16th, 23rd) at The Charles A. Weyerhaeuser Memorial Museum in Little Falls, MN. Admission is free.  "Murder at the Depot"
The Sister City Committee Presents: "Murder at the Depot." Our 3rd Annual Murder Mystery at GRAA Building in historic downtown Little Falls (1st St. and 1st Ave S.E.) will be held Saturday and Sunday, February 13th and 14th.  02/27/2010   Cartoon Art Workshop
Great River Regional Library is offering a Cartoon Art Workshop for ages 12-18 from 12:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the Little Falls Carnegie Library. Sign up for this workshop to learn what it takes to be an illustrator and author of your own book. The workshop will include character and story outline development, comic drawing techniques and layout options. It will also include some comic book history and discussion of noted artists. Students are asked to bring a short story to work with and/or existing artwork they may want to use. Basic materials will be provided. Attendance is limited to 20 and preregistration is required. The workshop will be presented by Shayann Hoffer, an award-winning freelance artist and educator who works with youth in the areas of drawing, painting, cartooning and still-clip animation. She has a BFA in painting and did post graduate art study at the University of Oregon.
