Linden Hill Presents ‘Minnesota Homefront, World War II,’ a Traveling Exhibit

Come visit Linden Hill in Little Falls, MN on January 21-March 11, 2012 and see “Minnesota Homefront, World War II,” a traveling exhibit that explores the accomplishments, sacrifices, disappointments and challenges that have shaped the enduring legacy of Minnesota's Greatest Generation through their stories.
In “Minnesota Homefront, World War II,” visitors find out what it was like to “make do” with rationing, farm during a severe labor shortage, work on the Iron Range, develop inventions for the war, be trained as a translator at Fort Snelling and endure a starvation experiment for science and the war effort. In addition, we will explore the ‘Linden Hill’ military connection.
The exhibit features nine graphic panels, audio interviews, songs of the period, and a “Letter Stories” bin.
This exhibit is on temporary loan from the Minnesota History Center in St. Paul and will be traveling to venues throughout Minnesota. Linden Hill has also acquired additional World War II artifacts on loan from wonderful sources that will add to the exhibit bringing an interesting perspective, multi -dimensional and most fascinating exhibit.
The Minnesota Historical Society Traveling Exhibits Program has been made possible by the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund through the vote of Minnesotans on November 4, 2008.
The Minnesota Historical Society is a non-profit educational and cultural institution established in 1849. Its essence is to help illuminate the past as a way to shed light on the future. The Society collects, preserves and tells the story of Minnesota’s past through museum exhibits, libraries and collections, historic sites, educational programs and book publishing.

Soup Supper

The Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls will host an all-you-can-eat Soup Supper fund raiser on Saturday, February 4, 2012, 4:30-7 p.m., at St. Francis Convent, Little Falls. Three varieties of homemade soups—Chicken Wild Rice, Beef Barley Vegetable and Tomato Tortellini; fresh baked cracked wheat and white bread, homemade bars and beverages will be served. Dinner tickets will be available at the door or by calling (320)632-2981. Proceeds from the Soup Supper will benefit St. Francis Health and Recreation Center and St. Francis Music Center, Little Falls.
